Texas Defensive Driving School (TDLR license CP411) offers four options: the $25 online defensive driving course, the $44.95 course plus Type 3A driving record bundle, the $24.95 Type 3A record on its own, and the $15 insurance discount course. The table below shows which one fits your situation.

Ask your court for permission first, then take the $25 Texas Defensive Driving Course. Many courts also require a certified Type 3A driver record.
Course plus driver record
The $44.95 bundle pairs the $25 course with driver-record ordering support. The driver record is $5 off when bundled with the course.
Insurance discount
Use the $15 insurance course only when your insurer accepts defensive driving for a discount. It is not a ticket-dismissal course.

What's the difference between the $25 course and the $44.95 bundle?
The bundle is the same $25 course plus Type 3A driver record ordering support. The record is $24.95 on its own and $5 less when you bundle it.
Which option do I need for a ticket?
Get your court's permission first. If the court also wants a certified Type 3A driver record, choose the bundle. If not, choose the $25 course.
Can the $15 insurance course dismiss a ticket?
No. It is an insurance-discount course, not a ticket-dismissal course. Check with your insurer before you buy it.

How long does the course take?
The licensed Texas driving safety course is six hours. The online course is video-based, so you can take it on a phone, tablet or computer.
Can I take the course on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The course is video-based and mobile-friendly, so it works on a phone, tablet or desktop. There is no final exam.
Is this the same as the Impact Texas Drivers (ITD) video?
No. Impact Texas Drivers is a Texas DPS video program about distracted driving that drivers complete before their driving skills test. It is not a defensive driving course and does not dismiss a ticket. For ticket dismissal, use a TDLR-licensed driving safety course after your court gives permission. For an insurance discount, ask your insurer which course it accepts.
